June 2025 - Foundations and drainage go in at Whitewings
With the good weather our West Bay contemporary new-build has broken ground, with the contractors hard at work exposing the existing foundations, in preparation for the new slab to be cast around them. Some sub-terrain walls have been newly-built, ready to support the new spaces. Everybody is working to perfect each detail, so that the result can be a perfect place for generations of the family to come together and enjoy the flowing spaces.
For ourselves, the clients, and the rest of the the design team it is a joy to see this long-awaited, ambitious building begin its construction journey, where the blend of contemporary design with the beauty of the site and references to the previous house will emerge.
May 2025 - A gentle place for gardening and craft
Even small spaces can be big on design features! In a quiet village in West Dorset a stone outbuilding is getting a new lease of life with Building Control approving the technical design for the greenhouse to be replaced with a new pottery studio and potting shed combination. The bright space, lined with cosy timber and whitewashed stone, will be a functional space to indulge in gardening and artisan craft.
April 2025 - Completion at Coppet House
Our monopitch, hillside house has reached completion and it is a joy to see the dynamic and uplifting internal spaces being enjoyed by the residents.
The large new windows take in panoramic views of the Marshwood Vale, while the flow of indoors to outdoors promises of summer barbeques and garden parties.

Transformative Sustainable Architecture in West Dorset

Great progress is being made on sites all around Bridport, west Dorset. Upgrading, extending and remodelling older buildings to transform them into sustainable, comfortable and exciting homes for the future!
Sustainable architecture around Bridport
This year exemplifies our diverse portfolio of projects. We have jobs on site in Bridport, Lyme Regis, Shipton Gorge, the Coast Road West Bexington, and West Bay! All are progressing well in the good weather.
Each project is very different with its own challenges and opportunities and with a variety of different construction types we're being kept on our toes! All have a shared ambition, to maximise the potential of their sites and to be as sustainable as possible in both embeded energy and ongoing lifecycle.

October 2024 - progress on Orchard End, the new build contemporary house in Lyme
The upside-down rendered and clad contemporary house in Lyme Regis is really taking shape now and is sealed ready for the festive break. On the elevations those horizontal bands are clear to see, intersected by the vertical wedge elements. Indoors the high tech windows have been added, lending warmth to the new rooms, and the plant for the innovative HPV and HPW heating and ventilation systems is going in.

September 2024 - a Hempcrete House is raised !
Casting on the hempcrete house is well underway and the walls are looking fantastic! Hand tamping the hempcrete is proving to be hard on the knuckles but worth the effort. The process is an enjoyable one, according to the guys on site. It requires methodical consistency to ensure just the right amount of pressure is applied. The glulam and timber frame is going up alongsde the casting with the roof forms due to emerge next!

June, 2023
Whitelands is complete and everyone is delighted with this new house at Eype, clients and public alike! A member of the public recently sent us this:

''I just wanted to email you to congratulate you on your beautiful design at Whitelands, Eype.
We live in Somerset and are nearing completion on our own self-build project. We escaped for some sea air at the weekend and walked past the house on our way to Downhouse Farm tea shop. I stood and looked at all the build details for probably way too long - it’s really beautiful!
I notice from your website that you also designed the little wave chalet at Eype Mouth. This was the only other ‘stand out’ building to me and a lovely surprise that you also designed this.
When we’ve recovered from this current project and the renovation of a listed Chapel, which is next, I would love to contact you for our future projects.
Well done on a brilliant job helping to transform our landscape.''

Whitelands progress update: An exciting home emerges
April 28, 2022
The bespoke new home in Dorset has progressed to an exciting stage and the build progresses at pace! The scaffolding has just come down revealing the dramatic roof angles and structure of the main living space and sweeping curve of the stone front wall.
Suddenly the spaces have come to life and it's clear to see how beautiful they will become. The transition from inside to out will be seamless with the 'floating' corner. ID systems sliding doors are soon to be installed to allow the space to be opened up completely. A very exciting next stage is starting with completion now on the horizon.
