Replacement contemporary dwelling in the open countryside

This house was commissioned by Jenkins Developments to be a sustainable new build dwelling overlooking south facing gardens and parkland on a very special site in North Dorset

 

The house replaced a delapidated and rambling building that was no longer fit for purpose.  Planning for this replacement dwelling was not straight forward but eventually we gained approval in 2018 for this exciting contemporary home.

The house is steel framed with timber frame infill, highly insulated and finished with great attention to detail. The first floor appears to float above the curved brick wall that frames the driveway and leads you to the front door. T

 

he internal spaces are light with generous ceiling heights and simple lines that frame the views of the countryside.

This ambitious house sits comfortably in its rural setting with materials chosen to be appropriate and contemporary.
