This brick outhouse and privy are tucked in the garden of a Bridport listed townhouse. Theo Green Designs was enlisted to oversee the conversion of the then dilapidated buildings through planning and listed building consent.

Traditional construction materials and methods were used for the renovation, which has enhanced the character of these buildings.

The garden room had the existing asbestos ceiling removed and a conservation sky light was added to the now vaulted roof. This in conjunction with interior lime whitewash has brightened the entire inside space, despite its overshadowed position in the garden.

The privy had a modern extension removed and all the brickwork and guttering was made good to provide a useful potting shed for the courtyard garden. A seat has taken the place of the extension which benefits from the last rays of sun in the garden.

The result has delighted the owners and has given the buildings a long term purpose.
