The Oak House was commissioned in early 2016 to be a unique replacement dwelling near Birdport and West Bay in west Dorset.
The site originally contained a dated 1950’s bungalow that failed to connect the building with the garden or landscape views to the rear.
The design of the new house was developed to capitalise on the views and make the most of the limited space this narrow site had to offer. The new house is a generous 3 bedroom property that offers the clients a significantly larger house than the original building, along with living spaces to the rear arranged over 2 floors to ensure all living spaces benefit from the views and west facing aspect.
The bespoke oak framed house is to be clad in timber and natural stone combining modern living with traditional construction techniques. The oak frame is now up and construction is on going.
